Go Cougars!

How do I always end up in the most funny situations? I guess I can't help it, I don't know how. While I was in my last adventure i spent some time in Puerto Escondido Oaxaca, Mexico. This place is amazing, its like the ultimate surferland. One of the best places to surf in the world. While I was there I really got involved in absorbing the whole culture. I listened to reggae, (Peace & Love) and got really tan, running naked on the beach. I even I stopped wearing underwear.  I was a little hesistant at the beginning  but after a couple of days it felt great!  Its  been a month since I've worn underwear.

When I returned back to Austin, my friend AT asked me If I wanted to be her partner in a Crossfit competition. Looking back  l'm  wondering why I said yes.

The workout looked like workout from the movie "300!"  When I said yes I never considered that AT does crossfit and runs marathons all the time.  This workout might not be as challenging for her as it would be me.  Couldn't back out now, I'd already said yes.

The day of the competition I realized that I wasn't wearing any underwear and needed to get something to keep "things" from coming out during the competition,  Only place close by was an HEB!   Obviously HEB is not known for having an "underwear aisle" so my  only option was to purchase a pair of women's mini shorts that had "cougars" written across the butt!

Women's Cougar shorts and all, we ended up  finishing the workout in about 25 minutes and our team had the fastest time. The workout was hard and challeging and I honestly had no idea I had that  in me to finish.  I learned that I'm stronger and mentally tougher than I thought.  This workout illustrated that the source of ones strength does not come from ones muscles, but rather from your heart and mind. I guess I knew it was true but never actually understood it until the last couple of weeks when I was climbing Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Hood. It was the most painful and physically demanding thing I've ever done. But in order to grow and  become stronger and wiser, sometime pain is involved. Through my travels I've learned how to embrace pain and allow it to help me grow and develop as a man. Just another part of my journey through life.
